Curd, or **Dadhi**, holds a significant place in Ayurvedic dietary practices. Its consumption varies according to seasons due to its effects on the body’s doshas—Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. Understanding how to eat curd seasonally can enhance its benefits and minimize any adverse effects.


## General Ayurvedic Guidelines for Curd Consumption


1. **Avoid Nighttime Consumption**: Curd should not be consumed at night as it can aggravate Kapha dosha, leading to increased mucus production and digestive issues. If necessary, add spices like black pepper or fenugreek to mitigate these effects.


2. **Do Not Heat Curd**: Heating curd destroys its beneficial properties and live cultures. Always consume it cold or at room temperature.


3. **Moderation is Key**: Regular daily consumption of curd is discouraged due to its heavy nature, which may lead to digestive discomfort and increased inflammation.


4. **Avoid Incompatible Combinations**: Mixing curd with certain foods like fruits, fish, or meat can lead to digestive blockages and toxin formation (ama).

### 2. **Spring (Vasant Ritu)**

- **Why**: This season is characterized by Kapha aggravation; consuming too much curd can lead to increased mucus and allergies.

### 3. **Summer (Grishma Ritu)**

- **Why**: The hot weather naturally increases Pitta dosha, and curd can exacerbate this imbalance leading to digestive issues.

- **Why**: The dampness of the season can aggravate Kapha; thus, heavy foods like curd should be minimized.
